The trades people actually see

Interior and Exterior Finishes

Painting, plastering, render, mouldings and window furnishings — the finishing work that decides how a property looks and what it feels like to walk into.

Overview

Finishes are where corners get noticed. A wavy wall, a rushed cut-in or mismatched render undoes otherwise good work. Our finishing work runs from straightforward repaints through to decorative plaster, period mouldings and heritage render repair, inside and out.

Who it’s for

  • Homeowners repainting or refreshing interiors
  • Owners of period homes needing render, cornice or moulding repair
  • Agents preparing properties for sale or lease
  • Commercial operators maintaining presentable premises

Problems it solves

  • Paintwork that has dulled, chipped or dated the whole property
  • Cracked cornices, damaged mouldings and patched plaster that stands out
  • Weathered or drummy external render
  • Bare windows after a renovation, or failed curtains and blinds

When it’s urgent

Render falling from a facade or a cracked window pane is a safety issue, not a finishing job — report it through the urgent damage page so it can be made safe first.

The process

How this work usually runs

  1. Review the surfaces

Photos are usually enough to quote a repaint; render, plaster and heritage work generally needs an inspection to check the substrate.

  2. Agree finishes and colours

The quote specifies preparation, products and number of coats — not just 'painting' — so you can compare it fairly against others.

  3. Preparation first

Surfaces are repaired, sanded and primed properly before any finish goes on. Furniture and floors are protected throughout.

  4. Finish and inspect

Work is inspected with you in good light, touch-ups are completed, and the space is left clean and ready to use.

FAQs

Interior and Exterior Finishes questions

Do you quote painting from photos?

Usually, yes — clear photos of each room plus rough dimensions are enough for a repaint quote. Exterior, render and heritage work normally needs a site inspection because substrate condition drives the price.

What is Venetian plastering?

A decorative finish built up in thin coats of polished plaster, giving walls a smooth, subtly varied surface that paint cannot replicate. It suits feature walls, entries and bathrooms, and we can show you samples before you commit.

Can you match existing cornices and mouldings?

In most cases, yes. Common profiles are readily available, and period profiles can be matched or custom-run for repairs where a section is damaged but the rest of the room is intact.

Can you work on heritage and period buildings?

Yes — we carry out heritage rendering and restoration work using materials and methods appropriate to older buildings. Ask when you enquire and we will confirm in writing what applies to your project, including any heritage-overlay or permit requirements for your property.
